Radial's J48 has been designed from the ground up to deliver the most natural tone. As a direct box manufacturer, we don't believe it's our job to alter the sound of your prized Fender Jazz Bass, but rather to retain and transfer the instrument's true character to the mixing board without adding distortion or phony sounds. This design philosophy has earned a large following of discerning musicians around the world.

Using only 48V phantom power, the Radial J48 is an active direct box that produces exceptionally linear response extending from 20 Hz to over 40 kHz. Low distortion of all types is achieved through a unique digital switching power supply that raises the internal operating line voltage, adding additional headroom and improved signal control. The results are truly astonishing. The J48 delivers even, ideal harmonic waveforms and sonic performance that surpasses any direct box in its price range.

And like all Radial products, the J48 is both feature-rich for the studio and easy to use on stage. This includes a -15dB input pad for picking up high-level signals, a 180° reverse polarity control for on-stage feedback, and a ground isolation to help reduce hum caused by ground loops. Special features include a blend function that elegantly blends left and right signals into mono without phase cancellation. To minimize resonant feedback from acoustic instruments, the J48 is also equipped with an 80Hz high-pass filter. When engaged, this also boosts dynamics and removes unwanted low frequencies.

Radial's innovative book-shaped design protects switches and connectors from abuse, while the chassis' internal construction eliminates stress on the PCB. This reduces solder joints and provides years of trouble-free performance. A non-slip bottom pad provides mechanical and electrical isolation, creating a solid case for any scenario.
